A Letter from Elder, our middle-school math teacher
2020 has been a year full of changes in my life, many things have happened; one of them is a great and new experience that I have had. This started in August of this year, when I was hired to teach at Chispas. First, I had never been a permanent tutor until then. I met Jennifer, Delmy, Alex, and Josué, who were my first students. Four young people who were unaware of my existence and I theirs, each of them a world to explore and tap into. Over time I became very close friends with three of them. Unfortunately, one other student stopped coming. It was just a few days ago that I found out how the course of his life was going. I felt like a failure because I was not able to get closer to him and be of greater help. I hope that one day I will see him again, to motivate him.
With the time that has passed, I met other boys and a girl in particular who have been such a pleasure, they have all been a great blessing. Why? Because I had always heard these words from teachers: that one always learns from their students no matter how much experience they have, and that is exactly what has happened with these guys.
Despite the difficulties, I am completely sure that every one is capable of fulfilling the dreams they have, because they believe in God and are filled with him.
We recently took a walk where I could clearly see it, these guys are surrendered to God, they worship him, and the love of God is felt through them. Thanks to the directors of Chispas, for giving them the opportunity, for giving me the opportunity, and for giving the opportunity to the youth of Guatemala.
Sincerely,
One of the Chispas teachers, Professor Elder
