Delmy's Story
Hey, my name is Delmy. My story really isn’t all that interesting, but I’m going to tell it anyway…
When I was little, I used to play, watch TV, and help out with chores around the house. Then, my mom made me go to school. I remember that I did my homework, but I didn’t have time to play anymore and I spent most of my time just doing homework. If I didn’t do my homework, my mom would scold me. My mom switched me from one school to another several times and I always made some good friends and some bad friends. One of my favorite memories is when I went to a friend’s house to practice for a school play. I remember one really good friend that I could talk to about everything, and she told me everything about her life too. The following year my mom switched me to a different school again and I started attending the same school as my cousin, Gustavo. I found lots of new friends, but some were a bad influence. I have lots of problems in my family, but I wouldn’t change them for anything in the world because they are special to me.
I started attending Chispas of Change because my aunt, my cousin Gustavo’s mom, knew Alex’s family and that’s how I heard about school. When I started going to school at Chispas I found new friends.
At Chispas of Change, I like that they teach me about God, I like to have fun, make new friends, and I like that we can trust in the teachers. We have lots of fun with the teachers too.
What I miss most during the quarantine is learning about God’s Word and how to worship God. I also miss sharing what I think and feel during class.
I have learned to not be prideful and that it’s important to have a grateful heart toward God. I’ve also learned that idolatry is wrong.
In ten years, I picture myself as a professional, pursuing my career and also being able to help other people.
Delmy celebrated her sweet 16th birthday in November. This is her second year studying at Chispas of Change, and we have loved watching her grow as a friend and leader for some of our younger students. Please pray for Delmy’s heart as she is at home 24/7 during the quarantine. Pray for God to speak to her and for her to know that she is not alone.
