Josselin's Story
Hola, my name is Josselin. I am ten years old. I have three siblings – one older brother, one older sister, and my baby sister. Her name is Andrea. I help my mom take care of Andrea by carrying her in a cloth sling on my back while my mom is working. My mom sells gum and candy in Central Park in Antigua. I sell bird seed and gum by walking around and offering it to tourists and other visitors. There are lots of pigeons in Central Park and people really like to feed them, but I’m actually very scared of birds!
I am in fourth grade at Chispas of Change this year.
I found about about Chispas of Change because my older brother met Estuardo at soccer practice. Then, he and Callie found me in Central Park and they invited me to start studying with them! This is my first year there, and so far I really like it.
What I like most about Chispas of Change is doing homework and playing. I really like puzzles and card games. At Chispas of Change, I learned how to read and write!
During this time at home I have really missed the classes and teachers at school.
In ten years, I would like to live in my very own house and be a chef at my very own restaurant.
Josselin is a brave and down-to-earth protector. She helps us keep our students on track by letting us know when someone is falling out of line. 😉 Although many would assume she will spend her life selling in the streets since that’s what she’s done since she was little, Josselin has big dreams for her future!
She has been involved in an afterschool program called Sueños for several years, and through the lessons and friendships, she has learned that she can be whatever she dreams of when she grows up! Please pray with us for Josselin’s health and safety as she is at home caring for her little sister during quarantine. Pray for her mom to understand who Jesus is and how much he loves her family!
