Vanesa's Story
Hi, my name is Vanesa. I’m 16 years old and I love sports and music.
In my family, we have been through lots of good times and lots of bad times. For example, this past Christmas me and my mom were at home alone. We were sad because my siblings weren’t there, and my dad wasn’t there either because he doesn’t live with us. We love spending Christmas and New Year’s Eve with my whole family together at home.
I remember that I found out about Chispas of Change because my friends Rachel and Nolo told me about it during youth group one Saturday. They asked me and Sucely if we wanted to get back in school and I said yes! That is how I became part of the Chispas of Change family.
What I like most about Chispas of Change is spending time together. The teachers are patient and they teach us about God. I love singing in the mornings to start the school day.
I really miss going to school each day, seeing my classmates and the teachers, joking around, studying the Bible, and singing together.
In Chispas I have learned about moral values, how to trust in Jesus, and how to break bad habits. I have learned how to love and respect instead of hate.
In ten years, I see myself graduating from the university. I want to have a job where I can help people in need, support my family, and above all have God at the center of my life. I want to trust in Him and tell everyone else about him!
Chispa means “spark” in Spanish, and Vanesa certainly is a spark for change in her community! She is bold and brave, and we love helping her learn and grow. Vanesa understands that the Bible is God’s love letter to all of humanity, and she is eager to share it with her family.
Will you pray that Vanesa uses what she has learned to encourage her family and friends to trust in Jesus and follow him?
